Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a laser procedure used to help lower eye pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma. During the treatment, a laser targets specific cells in the eye’s drainage system, called the trabecular meshwork, to improve fluid outflow. The procedure is typically performed in an ophthalmologist’s office, takes only a few minutes, and does not require an incision. By reducing intraocular pressure, SLT can help prevent further damage to the optic nerve and preserve vision.
YAG laser surgery, also known as YAG laser capsulotomy, is a procedure commonly performed after cataract surgery when the lens capsule becomes cloudy. The laser creates a small opening in the cloudy capsule behind the artificial lens, allowing light to pass through clearly again. The treatment is painless, usually completed in a matter of minutes, and does not involve any surgical incisions. Most patients experience improved vision shortly after the procedure, with minimal recovery time required.
